PRE-FALL 2012 COLLECTION
WO-MAN

Back to the beginning, and into the future,
Punctuating the masculine with the feminine
Empowering her unique wo-manhood,
With ease and sophistication tailored to embrace the world.
Style is in the contrasts – strong, soft; light, dark; liquid, structured.
The silhouette is sharp, shouldered and slim,
Always with a sexy flash of skin, be it the neck, shoulders or leg.
The smoky palette is an ombre of layers –
Ink, Sapphire, Midnight, Charcoal, Flint; Vellum, Cinnabar and Black.
Trans-seasonal tropical wools tailor the body,
Illuminated with the peek of sheer silk underpinning.
The system is one of bold feminine haberdashery:
At the center, the cutaway jacket in stretch flat serge wool.
Suit it with creased slim trousers or a tailored leggy slashed skirt.
Or go for the motion of a sunray pleated skirt.
The day-into-evening tux is more essential and flexible than ever.
Dresses are either a cutaway coatdress or a framed asymmetrical origami.
Top it all off with a leather bomber, a moleskin reefer or viscose/satin trench.
Accents speak of luxe eccentricity:
Waists are punctuated with a Bakelite belt,
An exaggerated bow or a chunky bejeweled sash.
The drama of jeweled drop earrings and portrait necklaces add edge.
While shoes are masculine gone feminine:
An oxford spectator heel or midi boot laced up the leg.
Evening is a grand finale of pure sensuality:
The asymmetrical sash-top sheath.
The origami column of spiral elegance.
And the strapless silk gown that swirls on the body.
Everything about this collection speaks
Of confidence, authority and personality.
Because there’s nothing more seductive
Than a woman who takes charge.
To be continued.

THE ARTISAN TOUCH

I’m constantly inspired by my passions, artistically and personally.
After a year of traveling to Haiti, my two worlds come together:
Translating the vibrancy of tribal elements into
Sophisticated, sexy urban clothes.
Everything is a work of art, a stroke of the body —
To illuminate the creative power of a woman.

The graphic palette is born of the land, sharpened by a black edge.
Clay, Earth, Teak, Bone, Citrus, Fern, Leaf, African Violet.
Shapes spiral onto body, whether lean and contoured
Or tented with sculpted volume.
Tribal prints are inspired by Haitian artist Philippe Dodar,
While brass and wood appliqués create patterns of their own.

The dress rules in bodyjersey or stretch canvas – sexy, hot and vital.
Or in airy cotton poplin suspended volume.
The neckline is strong – asymmetrical or athletic,
Energized with elastic straps or body-long zippers.

Add the edge of a fencing jacket to a mask print circle skirt
Or opt for a crisp organza shirt atop a spiral skirt,
Or the slash of a super-skinny tailored pant.
Finish with an artisan stained leather or perforated leather trapeze,
Or the simplicity of a printed paper cotton or raffia canvas shell.

The artistic expression goes day into night
With every piece a timeless object of desire.
Hand-twisted shirred and taught-to-the-body dresses,
Swirls of silk bound and captured in elastic bands,
And printed sculpted volume skirts that move with soul.

Accessories are moments of tribal-tech drama.
Shards of wood and Lucite in beaded neckpieces or wristlets.
Beveled geometric bangles in wool and Lucite.
The bag is either a wooden slat clutch or a slouchy artisan leather hobo.
And shoes are ankle-cuffed gladiators, hand-carved platform wedges
Or the ultimate tribal statement: the wood-and-lucite mask totem.

The more global the world, the more individual the woman.
Boldly expressive and confident with style,
Inspired by the beauty of the past, as she forwards into the future.
